Ali graduated from the University of Wisconsin -  River Falls with B.S. degrees in Journalism and International Studies in the Spring of 2013.

Following graduation, she took an internship in Duluth at Midwest Communications, a radio group. That internship turned into a job as a radio news reporter for KDAL 610. About a year into radio news, she landed a corporate job at maurices (a women's clothing company) in Store Operations.

At maurices, her job title was "Operation and Content Specialist" and two of her main responsibilities were "gatekeeping" store communications and managing the store's intranet. Using her own content calendar, she created graphics, wrote copy, and posted content including: articles, training materials, videos, and other operational resources. This process helped her hone her skill on curating and creating content for a very specific audience of about 10,000 employees. Within that role, she worked very closely with the maurices social media team and the brand ambassadors to curate relevant content for maurices social channels.

Her time at maurices taught her a great deal about business and how important it is to have consistent branding and voice. By choice, Ali ended up leaving maurices after a little more than 3 years to focus on outdoor writing/freelance marketing opportunities.
